Horsetail Falls

Horsetail Falls Hike
Twin Bridges, CA
Pyramid Creek Trail
This is a very popular hike. The trailhead is very easy to find right off of Highway 50 at Twin Bridges. There is a parking lot that is clearly marked for the Pyramid Creek Trail. The trail is not quite as easy to follow as you will be walking across large granite sheets. Lots of water coming down the creek and beautiful waterfalls in several areas. Even if you don't make it all the way to the top of the largest fall, it's a beautiful area to hike. It's about a 3 mile hike to get to the large waterfall, but plenty to see along the way. Lots of people get hurt out here on the rocks, so don't be overconfident while climbing the boulders. They can be tricky.

One of the first areas you come to on the trail is this large and very loud raging waterfall. So much water is moving here and it's beautiful to watch and listen to.

In some areas along the trail, the creek seems so serene and peaceful.

Beautiful scenery as you continue to find your way to the trail.

Another large area of raging water. We were able to sit here for a little while and just watch the water move down this hillside of granite.

There isn't much a trail here. As you can see there are large amounts of granite. But if you keep the big waterfall in sight, you're heading in the right direction...

Another creek view. The water was really moving.

Trailfie!

Beautiful area with raging water in the creek below and horsetail falls in the background.

The falls one more time. On this day, we ended up not going all the way to the top, but it was a beautiful hike nonetheless. Quite a few people hike this area, so feel free to wander around and look for the trail and cairns to show you the way.
