Snowbird Utah, Mount Baldy and Alta-Brighton Trail

Snowbird Utah
Day 1 - Salt Lake City wine tasting, cider tasting and people watching
Day 2 - Travel to Sugarloaf - hike around the resort and spend a day relaxing.
Day 3 - Mount Baldy, Sugarloaf Mountain, Devils Castle
Day 4 - Alta-Brighton Trail, Davenport Hill, Old Mines and a Steam Engine

Our next stop was White Horse Spirits and Kitchen, Salt Lake City

An a recommendation from our server, we decided to order some cider. This is a carafe of cider from a local winery called The Hive. This quickly became a favorite and we may or may not have had several carafes of this liquid quintessence. Wishing we could buy this in California, but it's only sold in Utah.

The Iron Blosam at Snowbird Utah

Not a bad view for a hearty breakfast before heading out on the trails.

The goal: Mount Baldy, Sugarloaf Mountain and Devil's Castle - then reverse and catch the tram back down.

Making the peak just a tiny bit taller.

The cairn is pretty, but those clouds.... not so much.

Devil's Castle makes number 3! Now to hurry down, the weather is changing quickly! The wind was whipping and the rain started just as we turned to head down. A weather system moved right over us. We ran down and took cover near a ski lift. It was windy and cold and neither of us had rain gear. It soon passed and we were able to continue. All we have in our sights now is the tram. But first we have to go up and over sugarloaf and baldy to get there.

End of Day 2
Mount Baldy 11,068
Sugarloaf Mountain 11,051
Devils Chalet
Best part after going up and over 3 montains and 5 peaks?
TAKING THE TRAM DOWN!!

we encountered a cool cave, one of many. This one however, keep a bit of my DNA for the day. I went inside and stumbled a little and smacked the top of my scalp on the rocks. Ouch. First blood drawn on our adventure!

Cool rock. All about balance.
