Crown Point Railroad Grade Trail, Lake Cascade Idaho

Crown Point Railroad Grade Trail
Lake Cascade, Cascade, Idaho
4,800 elevation
5.3 miles distance
10.6 miles out and back

As we were taking the scenic route from Boise to McCall, we decided to take in a hike along Lake Cascade.

As soon as we arrived, we were awe struck with the beauty around this lake.

We found this trail not far from the parking lot.

It meanders along the edge of the lake.

We weren't sure where the trail actually was since it appeared more like a road, so we ventured through the campgrounds and found this trailhead marker. We then discovered it took us right back to the road. Yep, that's the trail.

This tree made it's home right in the rock.

Rocking it...………….on the rocks.

The trail is right on the waters edge.

There are occasional story boards with information about the area or the wildlife.
A thoughtful spot for a rest.

Not sure we've ever seen a dandelion this big in California.

The trail continues on. At times we could see remnants of the railway that was once here.

There were several places with easy access to the water.
Would be a great place for your dog to take a dip in the lake.

The dark black line shows where the railroad once was. Abandoned towns to explore......well, at least the ones above water.

The trail is 5.3 miles each direction and is a straight out and back.
Very easy to navigate and for any skill level.
You could cycle, run or walk your dogs.
A great place to spend the day.
